but instead, i baked a pumpkin pie tonight.
yup, i recognize how random that is, but it sounded really good and it’s impossible to find a ready-made version in the store in um, july. i think i was lucky to be able to find pumpkin pie filling! not a single aspect of the pie is “homemade” in any way except that i introduced the canned pumpkin to the dairy-case unbaked crust in the confines of my home. still, three hours later (it takes two hours to cool, okay?) i have a very passable pie to enjoy. it pales in comparison to the delectables d has been coming up with (tonight he is working on from-scratch potato corn chowder, with italian sausage and shallots) but it also takes less time on my feet.
and that, friends, is a good thing.
